BookWorks is an exciting early literacy initiative designed to instill a love of books while encouraging long-term self-sufficiency. Research shows that early exposure to reading is critical to childhood development, yet many children do not have books at home.

BookWorks helps bridge that gap by placing books directly into the hands of children fostering literacy, confidence, curiosity, and a foundation for lifelong learning.

The ultimate goal of BookWorks is to promote literacy, support academic success, and help prepare children for tomorrow’s workforce—advancing Alabama Goodwill’s mission of transforming lives through lifelong learning and the power of work.
