Congratulations to Our Good Jobs Challenge Graduates!
Alabama Goodwill Industries proudly celebrates 16 individuals who have officially completed the Good Jobs Challenge, a free healthcare workforce training initiative led by the City of Birmingham.
Funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, the City established the Birmingham Region Health Partnership (BRHP) — a collaboration of community partners including UAB, Prosper, Guild, Strive Birmingham, Women’s Foundation of Alabama, Central Six, and SM School of Opportunity. Together, these partners created clear pathways for healthcare job seekers across the region.
Thanks to the generous support of the Women’s Foundation of Alabama, the leading voice and philanthropic engine for women across our state, Alabama Goodwill was able to provide participants with the training and resources needed to succeed. The Foundation’s commitment to gender and economic equity — with a focus on workforce development and childcare — continues to help remove barriers and open doors to opportunity for women and families throughout Alabama.
With the leadership of Kris Rawson, Vice President of Mission, and through a competitive grant process, Alabama Goodwill was awarded funding for the Good Jobs Challenge 2024–2025 cohort. As a result, 16 participants have earned professional certifications in one or more of the following healthcare fields:
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
Medical Terminology
Certified Phlebotomy Technician
Hemodialysis Technician
Medical Office Manager (CPPM)
Patient Care Technician
Pharmacy Technician
These graduates are now entering the workforce with some of the region’s leading healthcare providers, including UAB, ready to apply their new skills and make a meaningful impact in our communities.
We are proud to celebrate their hard work and success — and grateful for the partnerships that make this life-changing program possible. Together, we’re changing lives through the power of work.
